I wrote last year about the end of winter, the green of spring and in that post I used an image of shamrocks with water droplets.

Just today, Saint Patrick's Day (17th March) I photographed a similar scene of water droplets on leaves and the bright sunlight glints in the fresh raindrops.

Shamrocks are of course a well known symbol of Ireland made famous, the legend goes, by Saint Patrick who used the three leaves on one stem to explain the Christian Holy Trinity to the Irish pagans that he was converting.

Reflections in Landscape Photography

Green Reflections

There's something about reflections and photography, don't you think?

From street photography to landscapes via architecture, reflections feature in all genres of photography.

Sometimes, as here in this image the journey is as scenic as the destination.

On our way to a photography workshop in the west of Ireland, heavy rain arrived - contrary to the forecast for the day, so we stopped to photograph what was only one of many scenic roads on our Wild Atlantic Way drive.

This section of narrow, twisty road was perfect as it was lined with trees and radiated fresh green colour on the overcast day.

This brings into focus, excuse the pun, what to do when the weather forecast doesn't go to plan - be ready to adapt.

The Green Lanes of Ireland

Sometimes for the traveller and photographer it is easy to be swayed by the charms of the more famous locations in a country or region.

That attraction is easy, the famous locations are what people ask about when you travel - "Did you visit the Giant's Causeway / Cliffs of Moher / Guinness Storehouse etc.?" is what they enquire when you return from a trip away.

The famous locations have plenty of good images to emulate and are easy to find with plenty of facilities, but Ireland, along with most countries has a wealth of landscapes, sites and sights that are not on the tourist trail.

Like this hidden green laneway, an old route through the countryside and lined with majestic trees, this route was never paved and has remained true to the character of Ireland's old scenic paths.

Join Panoramic Ireland (that's me) to find hidden places like these on one of my photography workshops and tours all over Ireland. See Ireland with a creative eye.

Pastoral Scenes of Cows and Green Landscapes

This week's photographic adventures took us through much of the Irish countryside, including here green fields full of cows relaxing.

Behind sits woodland and forest stretching out of the valley towards the higher slopes on the mountains.

The landscapes are looking particularly lush at the moment and the cows agree.

The Green River Landscape, Ireland

The landscapes of Ireland are by now lush and green, June is officially a summer month.

Here the beginnings of that green from this time last month in May shoes just how lush the landscapes of Ireland can be.

Two walkers just at the bend of the river show the scale of these mighty majestic deciduous trees lining the watercourse.

On the Road Again, Ireland

A busy few weeks has seen me covering various parts of Ireland as a travel photographer leading photography tours and workshops.

This image shows the Irish countryside, on this occasion County Cork, as I have seen it in recent weeks - the road leading on into the distance, representing the onward journey.

Ireland in May, Green and Sunny

Ireland's green landscapes are looking particularly vibrant at this time of year, we're into the spring month of May now and after the wettest April in Ireland for decades, since the 1940s I believe, we are finally getting some warmer temperatures and sunny days.
