The west of Ireland, lake at sunset.
With waves crashing ashore from westerly winds, it was bracing but not bitter. The colours coming from the sky more than made up for any shortcomings in air temperature and the views alone were breathtaking.
This was a scene that I had wanted to get for quite some time, to photograph this western lake on a great evening with plenty of atmosphere. I took a few exposures with this deviating from the typical landscape photographer's choice of long exposure, sometimes more drama can be created with a shorter exposure.
A typical stormy winter's day in Ireland's West, the view of mountains and lakes with a celtic cross in the foreground. A bracing and worthwhile walk along steepening paths, past sheep, fences and field boundaries took me over the pass and to this view over the wild west of Ireland.
Co. Clare's Burren is a unique landscape situated on Ireland's west coast. Its name derives from the Irish for 'rocky place'.
On a recent evening spent photographing in 'the West', that's the west of Ireland, Connemara to be exact, after sunset I was looking for something extra to capture. A small babbling brook, or something other than the scenic landscapes that had made up the bulk of my subject matter hither to.
I happened upon a small harbour on the edge of a lake, with a boat moored and some great reflections but I thought this location would be best photographed in the morning and it was now 22:00 in late June, bright but with no direct sunlight.
