Dublin's Docklands underwent significant, almost complete redevelopment in the 2000s with the biggest names in the tech industry still building and locating in the area today.

Here in Grand Canal Square the public realm was designed by landscape architect Martha Schwartz and the choice of red paving blocks and these tall red glow sticks were designed deliberately to give a red carpet effect coming from Daniel Libeskind's 2,000-seater theatre.

On the right is the distinctive chequered pattern of the Anantara The Marker Hotel.

This is now a good-looking part of the city and the redevelopment has brought a lot of life into the area that was run down for many decades at the end of the 20th century.

After photographing a concert in Dublin this week, I headed out through the city centre to photograph some more before making my way home.

It was a cold evening and dark by the time I was along the River Liffey, in the distance I could see the Convention Centre and Samuel Beckett bridge lit up in green for Saint Patrick's Day, closer by, I could see Dublin's famous Custom House, a late-18th century Georgian building fronting the river.

Of course, I didn't have the usual tools of the landscape and long-exposure photographer, in this case a tripod. The tripod is obviously not useful for concert photography and not permitted anyhow in the pit area.

Dublin's Custom House, one of the city's fine Georgian buildings sits above the River Liffey as it flows through the capital of Ireland seen here with arches lit up in the colours of the flag of Ukraine.

The Custom House is very recognisable to Dubliners, it was designed by one of the finest Georgian architects who designed many of Dublin's most iconic building - James Gandon; it opened in 1791 to serve as the building in which to collect and pay taxes for good shipped through Dublin, most goods travelling via the quays - the riverside.

This week saw Panoramic Ireland, that's me - a real person, photographing on Dublin's River Liffey on another of my one-to-one Dublin photo tours.

We covered some of the city sights before finishing up along the River Liffey, an exciting part of the city in which to photograph.

Using a tripod at this time of night is necessary, the long exposures required mean that the camera should be solid and steady and protected from movement.

The night lights of the various buildings, including the hoops on the Convention Centre, add to the atmosphere of the urban night time environment. These cityscapes are something that changes a lot along the river and through time but I'm sure you will find it to be a colourful experience.
