Waves of Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way

Ireland's west coast is often known as the Wild Atlantic Way, the coastal driving route that covers its 2500 km.

There are many famous locations along this magnificent route on Ireland's Atlantic coast, and there are plenty of locations that aren't famous at all but are worthy of a visit by anyone with an appreciation of the great outdoors, particularly the photographer.

Here, an image of those strong, relentless waves crashing upon the shore.

The Irish Graveyard in Colour

Graveyards in Ireland

The stereotype of graveyards often is that they are sombre, forlorn places but in Ireland, as indeed in many parts of the world, the graveyard is often a colourful place full of wildlife and of course most usually quiet.

Here is no exception, this small graveyard in County Tipperary shows traditional style crosses and headstones amongst bright grass under a blue sky.

Elephant Rock, County Antrim

The Antrim Coast needs little introduction here, search on panoramicireland.com and you will find dozens of articles and images on one of my favourite parts of Ireland.

Here is one of the more interesting locations that is not on the regular tourist trail but is well known to photographers - Elephant Rock.

Two Donkeys in the West of Ireland

I have written about Irish donkeys before, I'm sure you know how to search for that article - it's easy so go ahead and if you can't find then ask me how.

Here, from a recent photography tour in Ireland's west, this time in County Galway where my residential photography tours are based (from two days to a week, typically a four day tour) are these two fine looking donkeys, a sight so common and characteristic of the west of Ireland yet not easy to find as they are no longer a typical farm animal.

Evening Reflections in Dublin's River Liffey

Dublin City - the River Liffey and reflections.

Dublin looks fine in the evening with the gentle flow of the River Liffey, nightlights and clouds reflected in the smooth waters momentarily.

Ireland's Dingle Peninsula

Dingle is one of Ireland's most popular tourist locations, both for overseas visitors and locals, and with good reason.

Here, the lofty peaks of the narrow peninsula are overshadowed by clouds, casting their shadows onto the brown and green valley below.

The valley, carved by ice retains a few lakes and the quiet, peaceful feel so characteristic of the west of Ireland.
