Shannon Sunset

Sunset on Ireland's River Shannon

A recent photography workshop took me to the majestic River Shannon, the longest river in Ireland or Britain.

Falling Water

With the rainfall that is falling in Ireland today it was a wise choice to stay in and look at some old images.

Appropriately enough, this image of Glencar Waterfall really stood out.

Photography in Wicklow Woodland

Walking around the woods and streams of Ireland's wild landscapes with camera in hand is one of the best experiences to be had as a photographer.

Wicklow is one of the most scenic counties in Ireland, located south of Dublin it is home to the largest continuous upland area in Ireland (think remote but accessible) and has a good and varied coastline.

Here we see one of my favourite places in Ireland, with me taking time out to make a few images alongside this stream on a quiet day in Wicklow. It was all quiet except for the noisy stream, full of recent rainfall.

This is what I do and no matter for how long you are in Ireland, you can see and do this too. Learn how to take better images by taking a workshop tour in Ireland with Panoramic Ireland.

Ancient Woodland

Ancient woodlands are very rare in Ireland. By ancient woodland in Ireland we mean woodland that has been continuously forested since 1660, this date is shortly after the Cromwellian land confiscations of the seventeenth century and several surveys carried out around the 1650s would have identified land ownership and land use.
