The gable end of 12 Montague Street, Dublin as it faces onto Montague Lane is temporarily home to an artwork by Joe Caslin which aims to highlight the work of charity Samaritans.

The street artist, who is also a teacher, uses pencil drawings to highlight societal issues in contemporary Ireland, has unveiled his latest artwork in Dublin to bring attention to Dubliners of the work carried out by Samaritans.

Utilising the concept of the 15th century Japanese technique of Kintsugi in which broken pottery is repaired using powdered gold, Caslin's artwork of a male figure with the Kintsugi gold holding his face together suggests the idea that people may appear whole now but might have been broken before.

Samaritans do amazing work for those who need help, operating a 24 hour helpline for free via this number: 116 123 from anywhere in Ireland - from Antrim to Wexford and it's free to call.

Calling all artists! Dublin Canvas is now open for submissions for 2024.

This inclusive public art project started in 2015 with aims to make Dublin pretty by painting utility boxes all over the county, from Balbriggan to Killiney.

There are 68 boxes in Dublin City, 23 in Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown and 13 in Fingal. For 2024 no boxes in South Dublin are in the artist call.

Dublin Canvas will supply materials such as paints, brushes and €250 to cover travel expenses and food etc. for the day, or they will pay €300 if you supply your own materials.

The call for artists is now live, and closes on Friday 3rd of May 2024.

We're big fans of sunsets here at Panoramic Ireland, you'll find plenty of images of the evening golden hour throughout the site.

It seems that someone with artisitic skills and a spray can in Dublin is also a fan, after painting this sagely advice on a wall in the city centre of Ireland's capital city.

Colour in Cork - Kino on Washington Street

Street colour from Cork, known by locals to be the real capital of Ireland. Here, the Kino, a now defunct theatre was as famous for the colour of the events that it hosted and the colour if its distinctive edifice on the city's Washington Street.

Panoramic Ireland really enjoys photographing in Cork and the Kino has always been a colourful place on Washington Street, the main thoroughfare from the city centre towards the university.

The Kino was a cultural hub in the city but unfortunately was finished off by Covid and the lockdowns, now it hosts some Phoenix Nights themed events.

Seen here in better days with fine street art before the pandemic and a lockdown that was the most restrictive in the world.

Street Art in Dublin, Sunny Day Photography

A sunny day in Dublin and wandering in the back streets, a man on a bicycle passes street art of famous guitarist Slash from Guns N' Roses.

Guns N' Roses are due to play a rescheduled concert in Dublin's Marlay Park in June 2021, the 2020 date having been cancelled due to Coronavirus / COVID-19.

Taken on a Panoramic Ireland photography tour of Dublin.

Dublin Street Art - Colourful Evolution

I recently wrote and photographed an article about the street art or graffiti art of Dublin for top US website Untapped Cities

The city is being transformed day by day by the work of various artists, often collaborating with businesses, city authorities and residents groups to brighten walls, shutters and enliven whole quarters of the city.

From derelict districts to upmarket boutique shops wanting an extra presence on the streetscape out of hours, artists are creating something big in Dublin.
