The late spring and early summer of 2015 has so far been quite wet in the west of Ireland, in fact a recent visit to a lake that I know very well showed that the levels were higher than those at the same time last year; this is despite some parts of Ireland being extremely dry. Dublin had only 17% of its Long Term Average (LTA) rainfall in June 2015. May, however, was very wet with some parts of the west recording over 200% of the LTA and Knock Airport had its dullest May since 1996.
All the recent rain and cloudy skies make for a difficult but always entertaining time for the dedicated outdoors photographer.
Today I revisited a river in the west that I have been to often but not in recent times. And this time I took some photos of the peaceful surroundings of my rest stop.

Armagh View
The view over Armagh City and the central plain of Northern Ireland is green and impressive when seen in the summer. In the foreground the uplands of the Fews area in South Armagh are giving way to the drumlin belt country that extends from Co. Down on the Irish Sea, through Armagh, to Co. Mayo on the west coast of Ireland.
Walking around the woods and streams of Ireland's wild landscapes with camera in hand is one of the best experiences to be had as a photographer.
Wicklow is one of the most scenic counties in Ireland, located south of Dublin it is home to the largest continuous upland area in Ireland (think remote but accessible) and has a good and varied coastline.
Here we see one of my favourite places in Ireland, with me taking time out to make a few images alongside this stream on a quiet day in Wicklow. It was all quiet except for the noisy stream, full of recent rainfall.
This is what I do and no matter for how long you are in Ireland, you can see and do this too. Learn how to take better images by taking a workshop tour in Ireland with Panoramic Ireland.

Glendalough in Co. Wicklow is one of the places where you will find me with my camera, spending time walking and waiting for the right conditions.
Sometimes a day just takes you where it wants, if you let it. This day took me to the Wild Atlantic Way on Ireland's west coast.
