West of Ireland Landscape Photography - Clouds and Colour

Beauty of an Irish Landscape - Connemara Beauty of an Irish Landscape - Connemara

There can be no doubt that the west of Ireland is as scenic as any other place in the world.

Here is one example, a small coastal mountain capped with cloud, struck with bright sunshine on its lower slopes giving a portion of the countryside a bright, vibrancy.

This image was taken on a photography workshop in Ireland's west, a place I know very well and in which I lead many photographers to find and photograph interesting scenes of landscapes, people and the villages of the Wild Atlantic Way.

This scene shows that the ordinary landscapes of Ireland are as scenic as those from anywhere in the world.

On this occasion we wanted to get characterful scenes after photographing at Kylemore Abbey and to try and get out from the cloud base that covered Connemara at the time, we headed for the coast and waited for a short time for a change of conditions. A good choice as the clouds were moving and sunshine was tracking across the countryside - as in this image from Wicklow.
