A timelapse from the West of Ireland

Written by

A quiet video from the west of Ireland.

Using my Garmin Virb in its inbuilt timelapse mode I set it up at the edge of a lake in one of my favourite locations.

Here in the west of Ireland, the large lake and sunset provides plenty of inspiration to the photographer and artist and it is a location that I have photographed often. Some of the last sunsets of 2014 I watched and photographed from this location.

A quick timelapse from the west of Ireland. 15 seconds of calm solitude.

The first video is a little 15 second overview of the sunset in three stages.

And the full video, speeded up by 8x using Garmin's Virb Edit software to can be seen on the Panoramic Ireland YouTube channel. At first, clouds race across the sky in two directions before clearing ahead of sunrise. Every so often a little breeze brings some ripples into the shallow bay as the sun traverses the clear blue sky. The hawthorn bush in the foreground catches the sunlight and the long grasses move with the breeze. The golden hour of beautiful clear sunlight finally gives way to a calming blue hour as the landscape darkens ahead of night.

Panoramic Ireland create unique photography experiences in Ireland, from here at this quiet lake to the urban streets of Dublin. Find hidden locations, see the same places differently and learn to make better images.
