Woodlands in the West of Ireland

Walking in the Woods

I went for a walk in the woods in the west of Ireland recently, a great evening with low light shining through the trees.

The only sounds were those of the camera shutter and echoey footsteps as I walked along the stony paths with a background soundtrack of forest birds.

I would always suggest allowing some time to walk around and look for scenic locations when photographing in the woods with sunset or sunrise light.

Here, I thought this scene would work best, with a split between the road and scenic woodland path coupled with the bright, low sidelight.

Having investigated the rest of the forest, this section had the most natural look with native, deciduous trees, ivy and mosses, other sections were modern conifer plantations that wouldn't be scenic or allow enough light through.

Why not join me on one of my photography workshops in Galway or Mayo?
