Bluebells Hyacinthoides non-scripta are a common sight throughout Ireland in late spring every year, particularly in woodlands.

Here in Sligo the whole woodland floor is carpeted with blue from the native wildflowers, rocks and trees are covered with bright green moss under a canopy of fresh green beech leaves.

The weather wasn't going to cooperate on this day that I had set aside for some photography in Sligo.

 And yes, the white specks are sheep on the mountain side.

Sometimes a day just takes you where it wants, if you let it. This day took me to the Wild Atlantic Way on Ireland's west coast.

A recent trip took me to Collooney, a village in Co. Sligo on Ireland's west coast. Now, Collooney is a place that many people bypass while travelling along the N17 from Galway to Sligo and Donegal.
