It's now mid-September and we are of course past the end of summer in Ireland.

Here, a scene from a summer journey along one of Ireland's least visited counties, County Cavan, home to scenic roads like this.

I couldn't travel fast on this road (why would anyone want to?) but it made the journey to my destination much more interesting and enjoyable.

And my journey was indeed slow, not just because of the road but also the need to stop frequently to photograph.

Join me, Panoramic Ireland, to photograph in places like this throughout Ireland.

Sunbeam Road, Colourful Winter in Ireland

A fine afternoon sky from today in Ireland with rays of the sun .

Sunbeams break through fast moving clouds as the sun edges past the hypotenuse of this nebulous triangle into clear blue sky for a short time.

The hills and low mountains of Ireland, illuminated in places into the distance.

After a fine scene of golden winter light yesterday, this definitely made a perfect afternoon outing with camera to mark three years since my cancer operation. Indeed it reminded me of this image from the time of my chemotherapy.

Ireland's Roads

Backroads in Ireland

It can hardly be called a large country, Ireland. It's possible to drive from the Irish Sea to the Atlantic in around three hours but the backroads of Ireland are some of the most scenic it is possible to encounter.
