Photography Workshop in Dingle

I have been spending time photographing and leading photography workshops recently in Dingle, Ireland's most westerly peninsula in County Kerry.

Here is an image of the Atlantic, its waves crashing up over ancient rocks under a stormy sky.

Snow in Co. Kerry, as seen from Dingle

There can be few places in Ireland as scenic as the Dingle Peninsula, Ireland's and Europe's most westerly point. And of course it sits on the Wild Atlantic Way.

It had been a while since I visited the rugged, mountain-filled land of rocks and beaches and a photography workshop with Patrick from Chicago was the obvious place to head to.

Colour and waves on the Wild Atlantic Way in Dingle, west of Ireland

I led a photography workshop this week in Dingle, Co. Kerry. The westernmost part of Ireland, Dingle is a peninsula of rugged beauty, waves lash the coast that in places is sandy, or rocky as seen in this image. Offshore lie the Blasket Islands, whose inhabitants were forcibly removed from island life in the 1950s.

The town of Dingle, known locally as An Daingean, is one of the prettiest in Ireland. Colourful streets, a working harbour, mountains and 52 pubs all contribute to the appeal of this popular town on Ireland's newly created Wild Atlantic Way.
