Sunrise on Dublin Bay

Dublin Bay at Sunrise Dublin Bay at Sunrise Panoramic Ireland | Irish Photo Tours

A beautiful morning on Dublin Bay today

Yesterday (Saturday) was nothing more than cold and damp, with rain from sunrise to sunset and beyond. One of those days when you have no motivation to leave home, thankfully those days are few and far between - even during the winter.

A great day for a photo tour in Dublin and Wicklow, with plenty of warming sunlight seen here in this image illuminating the clouds while I shot contre-jour to create a silhouette of the large rock while exposing the sky and pink clouds nicely.

Contre-jour is a French term meaning against the daylight and will usually produce a contrasty image that is made up of silhouettes, against a properly exposed background. A contre-jour image will result in loss of detail and relies more on lines and shapes for impact.

It was definitely well worth the early start to make it to the coast with camera and tripod in hand and the good weather lasted all through the day.
