An Evening on the Streets of Dublin

Dublin was brimming full of kilts this evening. Of course, for those who don't follow rugby, the opening weekend of the Six Nations was this weekend and Ireland were playing Scotland at Lansdowne Road, or the Aviva, in Dublin. So I took my photo tourist today on a short walk through the city.

Here are some of the visiting kilted-scots who ended up drowning their sorrows after a loss to Ireland. Actually, these guys were all smiles and were having a good old time in Dublin despite the result.

Walking around Dublin on busy evenings like this can be fun with a mix of cultures on the streets of Temple Bar, the city centre and in the pubs. It is the time to take in some street photography. I don't have a lot of time this evening to work on the images because I have an early start in the morning but these are a few of my favourites from a few hours on the streets of Ireland's capital.

It seems that Grafton Street is a great place to play as a band, every week a new ensemble appears to enteratain the crowds. Here on a chilly but calm and clear Sunday evening a loud and popular band called Mutefish, I know they are popular because of the large crowd gathered round to listen to their tunes.

Tomorrow sees me up early for a long day behind the lens. With a Met Eireann Orange Warning in operation I know that it is certainly going to be interesting. Met Eireann are the national weather office for Ireland and the Orange Warning is related in this case to high winds with gusts of up to 100km/h that are due to hit Irish Sea coasts from just after midnight until the afternoon. Wiser to stay indoors perhaps, but then adventure awaits..

More on that tomorrow, or Tuesday perhaps.
