A View Over Dublin

A view over Dublin, Ireland

I recently decided to head into the mountains; with the good weather that we had over the recent St. Patrick's Day long weekend I thought where better than the Dublin Mountains. The image above is a view over Dublin as seen from Ticknock with some of the various places marked. In this image it is possible to see Lansdowne Road (now renamed the Aviva), Croke Park, the National Convention Centre, Dublin Port and Liberty Hall.

In the distance, on the horizon the mountains of Armagh (Slieve Gullion), Louth (Cooley Mountains) and Down (Mourne Mountains) are visible. Between the Dublin Mountains and Cooley Mountains, the flat central plain meets the coast, and it is along this length of coastline where the coastal mountain fringe is absent.

The views from Ticknock and nearby Fairy Castle take in the view north as seen above, over the Irish Sea, into the wild Wicklow wilderness and all within easy reach of Dublin City.
