The Friendly Donkey

It's no secret that Ireland is a scenic place, very often visitors are drawn to the big open landscapes, the famous places such as the Cliffs of Moher, Dingle or the Giant's Causeway.

But there are many fine places to be found in other parts of the Emerald Isle.

On my travels around the back roads of Ireland, I was looking for an old graveyard beside a river.

As I was stopped by the roadside a friendly farmer on his way past told me that he had many donkeys in his field around the corner, to go and photograph them and that's what I did.

As I walked along the laneway, this friendly donkey came up to the gate followed by his companions and seemed happy to pose for a few pictures.

It's not the first time of course that I have photographed donkeys in Northern Ireland, here's one from the mountainous area in the south of County Armagh.
