Yesterday's bright sunshine in Dublin did a lot to dispel the myth that Ireland is miserably cold and wet and dull in the winter.

Dublin Castle in winter sunshine, walking tour with camera

Many of our winter days are bright and sunny, often cold but don't let anyone put you off the idea of visiting and planning a visit to Dublin in winter, hotel rooms are cheaper, there are fewer tourists and we do have decent weather.

Weather that you can see here is perfect for photography, including architectural photography like this image of Dublin Castle.

Seen here, the tower is known as the Record Tower as it once housed official records of the English in Ireland. It was built in the early 13th century during the reign of England's Henry III but the top section was added in the early 19th century to raise it above the Chapel Royal seen here on the right.

Dublin Castle is located right in the centre of Dublin and the tower is one of the oldest parts of the city still extant.

Join Panoramic Ireland, that's me, on a photography tour in Dublin to learn how to make better images including architectural and travel.
