At this time of year trees still have plenty of leaf but colours of red, orange, yellow and brown are more common than green. Grasses in upland areas also turn yellow, leaving only the short field grasses grazed by sheep and cows to be green in the landscape. A landscape photographer's dream.
In places there are few trees, small groves filling empty space or lining boundaries along the roads that traverse the region. This part of Northern Ireland has few inhabitants, a very rural way of life long gone from much of Ireland and it is a lovely place to discover solitude.
