Mayo vs Dublin in All-Ireland Final 2016

Written by
The Colour of a Mayo Village The Colour of a Mayo Village

Today saw the western county of Mayo take on the country's capital, Dublin, in 2016's All-Ireland gaelic football final at Dublin's Croke Park.

And this week saw me leading a photography tour in the rugged county on Ireland's Atlantic seaboard, yet this time I was inland as we moved from Sligo to Galway. On a previous visit I took in some of the county's section of the Wild Atlantic Way seen here.

Heading out of the county I stopped in the colourful village of Shrule where the local supporters had put their affection on display with custom-job vehicles lining the street.

As it turns out, the seventy minute match had seven minutes of extra time added and finished with a draw, meaning a replay in two weeks.

I too will be back in the west in a few weeks, to lead a Panoramic Ireland West of Ireland photography workshop. If you would like to join me find out more by contacting me here.
