An Irish Laneway

Written by
An Irish Laneway An Irish Laneway

During a recent trip through the countryside of my native Northern Ireland I stopped and walked along this lane.

Looking back over the crest of the hill there were panoramic views in all directions, most notably towards the distant mountains.

On this blue sky day, there was some high cloud to be seen and low cloud forming over the lofty peaks many miles in the distance.

Not all lanes are as scenic as this with its big views, stone walls and grass growing in the middle, its course descending over the hill and curving as it goes; this is a lane with character.

I could often stop and wait at a location like this. Wait for better weather, better light from the sun or wait for the scene to become less busy but on this occasion a short walk, setting up my tripod and exposing a few scenes was enough.

No need to schedule a return as yet, but when a place like this captures your imagination then it is hard to resist the desire to return.
