The River Liffey and Samuel Beckett Bridge at Sunset, Dublin

Dublin's River Liffey at Sunset Dublin's River Liffey at Sunset

A recent photography workshop saw me photographing at one of Dublin's scenic locations, the Samuel Beckett Bridge as it spans the River Liffey

It was a calm evening as sunset approached yet in the distance the singing from Croke Park could be heard all over the city, U2 were playing their one and only concert in Ireland as part of the Joshua Tree tour.

I would have liked to have gone to the concert but with a booking already made for that evening I was dedicated to showing my visiting customer the sights of Dublin in the evening.

We photographed the sun as it began to set behind the buildings, looking upstream here and since the evening was calm we had good reflections on the river.

The sky above Dublin was perfect with dark cloud layers and plenty of gaps for the bright evening light to stream through, as seen here, bringing with it plenty of colour.

We photographed the architecture and colour on into darkness and enjoyed the distant sounds of U2 playing across Dublin.

Here below is an entirely different view of the Samuel Beckett Bridge as some kids jump into the river from the railings close by.
