Cloudy Skies, Reflections at Sunset in Ireland's West - Landscape Photography

Another beautiful evening here in the west of Ireland and what an evening it was.

Any of you who joined me for a chat earlier will have seen and heard how calm the conditions were, just a few ripples on the surface of the water created interesting reflections of the passing clouds overhead.

This image is a long exposure using the natural darkness of the evening and also an ND filter to lengthen the exposure time to allow the movement of the clouds to become what you see here. Of course there is more to it than just slapping on a dark glass in front of the lens and firing the camera's shutter.

Check out our landscape photography workshops for more information about learning how to improve your photography, particularly using filters for long exposure coastal landscapes. These small group photography courses are suitable for all levels and individual attention will be given to help you improve whether that is in understanding exposure or finding your style with composition.
