Dublin vs Mayo

GAA Football All-Ireland Final 2013

Mayo face Dublin in the capital's Croke Park tomorrow, Sunday 22nd September 2013.

The Connacht team have apparently been living under a curse since their last win in 1951. That year they won the All-Ireland, the Sam Maguire Cup but due to some incident in Foxford, a local priest is said to have put a curse on the Mayo team.

Not all of the players are quite so superstitious with the captain of the Mayo team, Andy Moran, believing more in the quality of playing with the team losing seven finals since their last win.

Anyway the title image here is of the Ha'penny Bridge in Dublin with its banner advocating support for 'The Dubs', I don't have a corresponding picture for Mayo but I do have a picture of Croagh Patrick, Ireland's 'holiest mountain' with its association with St. Patrick; and well worth a climb as it has some of the best views in Ireland from its summit. A part of Ireland that I enjoy visiting and

I hope both Dublin and Mayo are as inspiring as each other, and although I'm not attending the match I'm looking forward to the atmosphere in Dublin. Actually, plenty of pubs are already displaying both flags (green and red for Mayo and Blues for Dublin).

If you have any preference or loyalty to Mayo or Dublin, feel free to leave a comment and good luck, it's a real country versus city match!
